Yoga is the art and science of living that was born 3-5 thousand years ago in India.
It is a way of living in the world that creates balance, harmony and health.
Patanjali’s Eight Limbs are used as an accessible guideline for the yogi:
Asana = poses for physical health or literal meaning "seat"
Pranayama = working with the breath
Pratyahara = withdrawal of the senses
Dharana = concentration
Dhyana = meditation
Samadhi = bliss - merging with the "One"

Modern day Yogis tend to focus on the asanas or the physical aspects of the practice. The asanas of Hatha Yoga often open the door and lead to the discovery of the other seven limbs.
It is said that if an individual delves wholeheartedly into just one of the limbs the others will be included automatically.
The Lifestyle of a Yogi is flexible. It does not follow any one religion but loving oneself and as Jesus said, loving your neighbor as yourself.
Yoga is the yoke or union of body, mind and spirit. It is a personal and individual journey that can open up potential that is beyond explanation and allows an individual to feel the undeniable interconnectedness of all beings.
